When you lived in the country with the nearest town 15 miles away and the only way to town was with a horse and wagon, you learned how to build things for yourself. In those days it was called "built on the place." If you were good at one or two things, word would spread and it was not long before you were being asked to make the things you were good at for other people.
We have a lot of county fairs and festivals, when you were good at building wagons and wagon wheels, you took your wares to every county fair and festival you could to look for business. Over time, if you were good, you name got out before the people and you would have a successful business.
With time came progress and with progress came the automobile and tractors and farm equipment and that all meant less horses which in turn meant less wagons and wagon wheels.
With progress also comes changes in the way we had to do business in order to stay in business. The first thing was to create a presence on the new fledgling Internet in 1998, which took three or four tries with domain names until we finally settled on the name Custom Wagons twelve years ago. From that time forward we have become the dominant wagon and wagon wheel company in America.
If someone told you that in the 21st century there would be a need for Wagon Wheels, Cannon Wheels, Steel Wagon Wheels, Wagon Wheel Chandeliers, Wood Buckets, Wood Butter Churns and Horse Drawn Wagons, you would think they were out of their mind.
Well, our business is growing and there appears to be no end to the need for the products that we produce and now with the Internet, we sell around the world. No other country in the world built and used the horse drawn wagon and wagon wheels like the Americans have over the past 250 years.
